(Gettysburg, SD) – The Chargers are looking to return to the Class B state basketball tournament in Aberdeen since before COVID. They will be making a short trip to Gettysburg to battle the Dupree Tigers. Sully Buttes is the eight seed while Dupree is the nine seed.
The Chargers are 17-5 overall on the season and winners of their last five contest defeating the Faulkton Area Trojans 55-44 in the Region 6B Semi-Finals. Sully Buttes opponent, the Dupree Tigers are winner of their last 13 games with their last win being a win over Harding County 72-53. The Tigers have not lost a game since January 9 where they fell to Little Wound.
Both teams average double digit point wins with Sully Buttes average a 13.5 points margin of victory while Dupree average a win by 17.2 points. The Chargers score 64 (64.2) points per game while surrendering 50 (50.7) points per game. The Tigers average 65 and give up around 49 (47.8) per game.
Only two common opponents for these two teams featuring Timber Lake which Dupree won twice against while Charger fell. The other common opponent was Jones County which Sully Buttes and Dupree were victorious against.
The two teams will meet for just the second time since 2012. The Chargers were victorious in the one and only meeting in that span winning 51-31 on March 15, 2012. The only stat that will matter in the game is the final score. The Chargers did have to wait an extra day to find out who they were playing.
