The Oahe Capitals would beat the Watertown Lakers 5-4 in the third place game Saturday evening holding on for their highest finish since 2011.
The Capitals would open up with the lead 1-0 in the second period with Brenna Ullman stuffing in a rebound shot. Harper Hendricks would tie the game at 1-1 less than a minute later, but the Caps poured it on from there in the second. Elliot Bertsch would score to make it 2-1 before Aubrey Stewart would score twice in 27 seconds and Kallee Behm would finish off the scoring in the second as Oahe led 5-1 after two. However, the Lakers wouldn’t go away. With the help of two more power play goals, the Lakers made it 5-3 and then made it 5-4 with just under six minutes remaining in the third. But the Caps would be able to hold on as Taylah Allerdings would make 15 saves on 19 chances and the defense in front held strong even with a 5-on-3 power play which turned into a 6-on-3 with the goalie pulled.
Oahe finishes the season at 16-8 taking home third place in which they finished that high in 2011. Seniors Emily Nemec, Addison Hunsley, Cienna Tipton and Micah Buffalo finish their high school careers.
