The Miller Rustlers are heading out to Madison to play in the Class A SoDak 16 tonight to face the Lennox Orioles in the 5-12 matchup as the Rustlers fight for an upset to make the state tournament.
While they could then go into the state tournament as the eight seed, the Rustlers don’t care as long as they make the dance. Miller is 17-5 on the year while Lennox is 18-3. Miller has won four of the last five heading into tonight with wins over Stanley County and Cheyenne-Eagle Butte at home to make the SoDak 16 tonight. Lennox, who averages nearly 60 points per game beat Canton 68-29 last Thursday for their only win of the region tournament to qualify for the SoDak 16. The two teams have not met in the last half decade as the Rustlers look for their first state tournament berth since 2012 while Lennox has not played a state tournament game since 2019, although qualifying in 2020 before Covid canceled the tournament.
Miller and Lennox are the first game of the night at 5:30 in Madison tonight. Sioux Falls Christian and Groton Area will play in the 6-11 game following scheduled for 7:00.
