GETTYSBURG, (KCCR) — This year is a special year for the Gettysburg Area Community Foundation. In the last 15 years, over 260-thousand dollars in gifts and 73-thousand 700 dollars in grants have been awarded on behalf of the Gettysburg Area Community Foundation. Working in partnership with the South Dakota Community Foundation in 2011, the Community Savings Account has grown as a positive testament to the generosity of community members, businesses and former residents who care about the future of the region. The Gettysburg Community Savings Account is a permanent endowment fund managed in partnership with South Dakota’s Community Foundation. Over the 15 years the Gettysburg Area Community Foundation has been in place it has benefited the Gettysburg preschool and school, Avera Foundation, Gettysburg Rotary Club, Potter County Library, local fire departments and many more. In 15 years, the overall fund has grown to 328-thousand dollars Gettysburg Community Foundation president Mandy Spilde says the Community Foundation is a great way for those who’ve moved away from Gettysburg to be able to continue supporting and staying connected to the community.
