PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Hughes County Commission is meeting Tuesday afternoon at the Hughes County Courthouse. A public hearing at three-pm will start the meeting. The public hearing is for a liquor license request. Final consideration will be given by the Commission for a plat change in the River Watch Estates. Commissioners will consider a property tax abatement and will discuss an asbestos inspection, abatement and remediation program with the South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The Commission will also discuss an advisory jail contract and get information from the Red River Mental Health Transport agency and will discuss a contract for emergency sirens with Frontline Warning Systems. Other agenda items include noxious weed postings and personal changes including finance officer wage, a pay increase for an acting Chief Deputy and consideration of hiring a new deputy. Reports from county staff will also be presented to the Commission. The Hughes County Commission meets at three-pm, Tuesday afternoon in the second floor Hughes County Commission room.
