Two games left in the regular season for the Oahe Capitals boys varsity team as the Caps will travel to Mitchell tonight to face Yankton before heading to Watertown on Saturday.
It’s a rare game in a neutral site that isn’t a state tournament as the Caps and Bucks will meet for the second time this year, but this time meeting halfway in Mitchell. The Caps and Bucks played on Saturday, January 10 in Fort Pierre with the Bucks winning 5-2, but Sunday’s game was postponed due to ice issues at the Expo Center. Now, in the last weekend, the two teams meet but couldn’t meet at the Expo Center with the 14U state tournament and will have to play in Mitchell for the evening. The Caps are 10-9-0-1 on the year in sixth place with Yankton being 14-4-1 and in third place. Yankton needs just one point this weekend to stay at number three.
Then on Saturday, Watertown will host the Caps to close the season for Oahe as Watertown has officially clinched a spot in the state tournament and still fighting for a shot to get up to sixth or seventh. The Lakers are 8-10-1 and will host all three games this weekend with a big game against Aberdeen tonight and the the Caps Saturday and Yankton on Sunday. The Caps beat the Lakers 4-2 in Fort Pierre back on December 20.
Coverage tonight begins at 7:40 with puck drop at 8:00 on then at 2:10 on Saturday with puck drop at 2:30 on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call with Jim Lloyd joining on Saturday.
