The Oahe Lady Capitals 14U team was one of the best two teams in the state throughout the entire year and this weekend they play the state tournament in their backyard of the Expo Center in Fort Pierre.
The Caps lost just one game all season, the last game of the season, to Brookings to go 16-1-1. The Sioux Falls Flyers, who they beat in overtime and tied with, is the only team to finish above them in the standings at 16-0-1-1, just one point better than them. However, whether they were one or two, both teams feel like they have what it takes to reach the state championship game on Sunday. Oahe opens the tournament against Yankton at 2:30 Friday, the second game of the day in the 2-7 contest. The Caps swept the Miracle 6-0 and 4-0 in early January. With a win, the Caps will most likely see Brookings Saturday night and will fight to avenge the loss from the weekend prior.
The state championship game is scheduled for 3:00 Sunday afternoon at the Expo Center. Capital City Rock Sports will have a YouTube only broadcast of the championship game regardless of the teams playing for the title. Jon Winkler will have the call.
