VIVIAN, (KCCR) — An Interstate 90 rest area in Lyman County is closed again for the foreseeable future. The westbound Vivian Rest Area on Interstate 90 between Presho and Vivian was first closed on February 18th for what the South Dakota Department of Transportation called mechanical issues at the rest area near mile marker 221. The rest area had reopened on February 20th. Now, just five days later, that same rest area has again closed and will be closed again for mechanical issues until further notice. Not only will the rest area building be closed, but no parking will be available at the rest area for westbound traffic. The eastbound Vivian Rest Area is not affected by this closure. Travelers are encouraged to find alternate accommodations because of the closure. Truck stops are located eight-and-a-half miles west of the rest area at Exit 212 and 29 miles west of the Vivian Rest Area at Exit 192 in Murdo. Drivers can also stop in the towns of Vivian or Draper.
