The Pierre Governor boys and girls basketball teams would fall to the Jefferson Cavaliers Tuesday night starting the last week of the regular season with the girls falling 61-33 on the road and the boys 66-47 at home.
The Governor girls were led by Molly Olson’s nine points on the night as they drop to 5-13 on the year as Marena Buschbom had five for Pierre. Jefferson had built an 18 point lead at the break 38-20 and added on from there getting it to a 30 point lead late in the third quarter to start the running clock through all of the fourth as they picked up win number 12 to improve to 12-6 on the season.
The Governor boys were trying to stay with the Cavaliers at home but trailed 13-9 after one and 31-23 at the break. Jefferson continued to subtly add on to its lead in the third to get to a 45-32 advantage and the lead became too much for the Govs as the Cavs picked up a 20 point lead in the fourth and finished with a 19 point win to get to 9-9 on the season while the Govs drop to 6-12.
