PIERRE, (KCCR) — An Eagle Butte man has been sentenced to 18 months in federal prison on a charge of Abusive Sexual Contact. U-S Attorney Ron Parsons says 22 year-old Jared Paul Dorian, Jr. will also serve a five-year term of supervised release after his prison term. Dorian was indicted by a federal grand jury in July of last year. He pleaded guilty in November. Parsons says an investigation determined Dorian engaged in sexual contact with a 12 year-old female in April of 2024 in Eagle Butte on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation. The U-S Attorney’s Office handled the case due to the Major Crimes Act, which gives certain violent crimes that take place in Indian Country to be handled by federal prosecutors instead of on the state level. The F-B-I and Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement investigated the case. Dorian was placed in the custody of the U-S Marshal’s Service to begin serving his sentence. U-S District Judge Eric Schulte sentenced Dorian Monday.
