The Stanley County Buffalo boys basketball team will finish one of the best regular seasons in school history winning its 18th game, beating Lyman 53-43 Monday night at home.
The Buffs will have not beaten just one team on their schedule for the entire season, the Sully Buttes Chargers, after Stanley County extracted revenge from the Jones County Invitational Championship in which Lyman clipped the Buffs. On senior night Monday, the Buffaloes were able to build a lead and hold on from a furious charge from the Raiders to beat them by 10 and finish at 18-2 in the regular season being the top seed in Region 6A and will be in the top eight of the all of Class A heading into the postseason. Cole Kieffer led the Lyman Raiders with 14 points in the game and Dawsen Volmer had 10. Stanley County was led by Eddie Duffy’s 17 on the night while Paxton Deal had 13 and Teegyn Breitag with 10.
Stanley County will wait for the season to officially end this weekend for the brackets to come out, and then will have to wait for their first opponent of the postseason when they take on the winner of the 4-5 game already in the SoDak 16 qualifying matchup which will be on Friday, March 6.
