The Pierre Governor basketball teams are beginning it’s final week of the regular season as the Govs will take on the Jefferson Cavaliers with the boys at home and the girls on the road.
The Governor girls, at 5-12, are sitting in 15th in the standings and will face the sixth team in the AA standings as Jefferson is 11-6 heading into its final three games of the season as well. Pierre was able to win two of three last week stopping a nine game losing streak with a win over Brookings and Lincoln. Jefferson will host the Govs tonight and then finish the season traveling to Rapid City to face Central and Stevens. The Governors will be at home on Friday against Roosevelt and then on to Watertown on Saturday afternoon to close out the year.
The Governor boys grabbed a thrilling win in double overtime on Friday 51-48 and will be looking for another win against a team above them in the standings but below .500 as Jefferson is 8-9 on the season. Pierre has moved up to 13th in the AA standings while Jefferson sits at tenth. The Govs will be at home for two of the three final games traveling to Roosevelt on Friday, but hosting Watertown on Saturday to close out the regular season.
