FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — Work on the second and final part of the Tatanka Trail in Fort Pierre is underway. Mayor Gloria Hanson says the Fort Pierre City office has received numerous calls about what all the work is about. The project is being funded in part by a one-point-eight-seven million dollars grant from the U-S Economic Development Administration. Hanson says the project is moving ahead in a slightly different lane…
The visitor center/museum idea is NOT a part of the current work. A pedestrian bridge over the Drifter’s marina was the first phase of the project. Tatanka Trail will feature terrain, native plantings and walking paths. Additional parking, lighting, benches and public art including two sculptures will be incorporated into the area. The work should be completed by June 1st.
