(Onida, SD) – Sully Buttes basketball return to the home court one final time during the regular season against Faulkton Area on Senior Night. The girls would fall 55-30 while the boys picked up a 53-37 win.
The Sully Buttes girls turnovers returned having 12 turnovers in the first quarter of play. At the end, they finished with 24 which most ended in easy lay ups for the Trojans. Another tough shooting night also plagued the Chargers scoring nine points in the second half. Jaydn Jaegar led the scoring for Sully Buttes finishing with 11 points on the night.
With the loss, Sully Buttes will be the eight seed for the region 6B tournament starting next Monday. Time and opponent is to be determined. Tiospaye Topa if the season ended today would be the Chargers first round opponent currently sitting in ninth.
Sully Buttes boys would start slow in the first quarter, but after finishing the quarter scoring the last 10 points, Sully Buttes would end the first half out scoring Faulkton Area 33-12. The Chargers would convert easy steals into points in the first half.
Sully Buttes added 18 more points in the third quarter. However the four quarter saw the lowest quarter output by the Chargers this season. Just two points on a shot made by Gavin Colson. The Chargers First three quarters was enough to hold off the Trojans and earn win number 14 on the season.
Sully Buttes girls finish the regular season 4-16. They will be the number eight seed in Region 6B and will host a first round game Monday. Tip-off time has not be set.
