(Onida, SD) – Sully Buttes basketball will have their final regular season home game Thursday against Faulkton Area on senior night for both the boys and girls teams. While it is the final regular season home contest, regional playoffs games will be beginning soon.
The Sully Buttes girls are looking to end the regular season with a three game winning streak having won their last two games against James Valley Christian and Sunshine Bible Academy. The Chargers are 4-15 on the season. Faulkton Area enters at 10-9 coming off a 40-31 loss against Miller.
Seeding position is still up for grabs in this game. Faulkton is current sitting as a quarterfinal road team in Region 6B. The Chargers are looking to host a first round game on Monday.
It will be the 25th meeting between the Chargers and Trojans since 2007. The Chargers hold the series lead in this stretch at 17-7. The Trojans have won the last two meetings with the last contest being a 49-32 win. The Chargers last win was in 2024 winning 56-51.
The Sully Buttes boys are entering Thursday games with a win on Saturday against Aberdeen Roncallli sitting with a 13-5 record. Faulkton Area is 9-9 falling to Miller 51-36 on Tuesday.
The Chargers and Trojans will be meeting for the 25th time since 2006. Sully Buttes has controlled the series have won 20 games to just four losses. They have won the last two meetings with last years contest being a 57-55 win. Faulkton Area is looking to stop the Chargers for the first time since 2023 where they won 62-56.
