(Onida, SD) – In a stand alone game Tuesday night, the Sully Buttes girl basketball team was victorious over Sunshine Bible Academy 46-30. The Chargers secured their second win in a row and their fourth win of the season.
Shooting would be a struggle for both teams to start the game with just 11 total points scored in the first. Chargers took a 7-4 lead after one. The defense and full court pressure was a key point of the game for Sully Buttes.
A part of the game that has been a trouble of the Chargers team this season. Sully Buttes forced 30 turnover for the Crusaders. Points off turnovers and free throws allowed Sully Buttes to pull away in the second leading 26-13 after the half.
The Chargers added 20 more points in the second half, forcing more turnovers and getting points off those turn overs. They would outscore Sunshine Bible Academy 20-17 in the second half.
All but two Chargers recorded points in the game. Scottlyn Kinney led the scoring with 14 points. Jayn Jaeger added 12 points of here own.
With the win, Sully Buttes have likely clinched a home regional playoff game next Monday with one game left to go in the regular season. A double header will happen Thursday against Faulkton Area.
