(Warner, SD) – For the first time this season, it was a perfect 2-0 day for Sully Buttes basketball. The girls would win 38-36 against James Valley Christian while boys charged past Aberdeen Roncalli 61-45.
The Sully Buttes girls had the second half they needed to seal. a two point win. The Lady Vikings keep Scottlyn Kinney from having another high scoring day just finishing with 10 points. It left the door for Berkley Birney and Jaydn Jaegar to combine for 16 points while Ellie Nelson scored seven of here own.
The Chargers surrendering the basketball to James Valley Christian, they would score with four seconds left in the fourth. A foul after the score would send Sully Buttes to the line where they missed both and it was one final chance for Lady Vikings with two second to go from three quarter court which was short. The Chargers picked up their first win after having a six game losing streak and close the regular season this week.
The Sully Buttes boys got out the gates early. Having a 16 points lead at the half at 37-21 including a 18-7 first quarter output. The second half would be an even half at 26-26. Only four Chargers would score led by Wesley Witter. Wittler was three rebounds shy of a 30-20 game with 33 points and 17 rebounds. Easton Moore had another big scoring day at 17 points, Jett Yackley finished with nine and Gavin Colson with four.
The Sully Buttes girls are 3-15 on the season now after the win on Saturday and will be home the final two games of the season hosting Sunshine Bible Academy on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.. Sully Buttes boys improved to 13-5 and will return to the home floor one final time Thursday against Faulkton Area in a double header Thursday night.
