The Oahe Capitals will be at home this weekend as both the girls and boys play as the boys are hosting both Mitchell and Sioux Falls East Friday and Saturday with the girls hosting Sioux Falls Saturday morning.
The Lady Capitals have just three games left in the regular season as they host the Flyers on Saturday with a matchup with Brookings and Aberdeen next weekend to close the year. Oahe, at 13-5 will look to beat Sioux Falls for the first time this season as they are 0-2 against the Flyers to this point as Sioux Falls is 15-1 with still five games remaining. Sioux Falls will play Watertown tonight before traveling to Fort Pierre on Saturday and then host Aberdeen on Sunday part of a three game weekend. If the Flyers win any of the three games, Oahe is fully locked into the three seed for the state tournament as Sioux Falls would have to lose the remaining games of the season and Oahe would have to win the rest of the games to overtake the Flyers in the standings.
The Capital boys can clinch a spot in the state tournament with a win or tie tonight against Mitchell. Even with the overtime loss last Saturday to Aberdeen, the Marlins are eight points back of the Capitals with five games to play and if the Caps win, four teams can not catch them in the standings securing a spot in the state tournament a month from now. The Caps are 9-6-0-1 while the Marlins are 5-11-1-0. Oahe is looking to sweep the season series after winning the first game of the season on Brecken Fuhrman’s game winning goal as time expired in regulation. Then on Saturday, Oahe will host Sioux falls East who is 14-3 on the season after beating Sioux Falls West on Thursday. The Flyers beat the Caps 6-0 back on Sunday November 30 with a quick four goals in the first period.
Coverage Friday starts at 7:40 with puck drop at 8:00 with Saturday games starting at 11:15 for the Lady Caps and Flyers and then at 6:45 for the Capitals and Sioux Falls East. Jon Winkler has the call of all three games.
