For the first time ever, a Sully Buttes girls wrestler has signed her National Letter of Intent to wrestle in College. Wednesday afternoon, Cateri Yellow Hawk made it official she will wrestle at Dakota Wesleyan in College.
Yellow Hawk is a five time place winner in all five years of girls wrestling and will look to be one of very few to place in all six of the first years of wrestling. She owns the distinction of being the girl to win the first ever match at the first girls state tournament. She’s also the first Charger female to win a region championship. But her run as a Sully Buttes Charger isn’t over yet. She sits at 27-2 on the season heading into the final weeks of the season and has her sights set on competing again for state championship where she took second last year to Pierre’s Dani Ringstmeyer. For Yellow Hawk being able to wrestle and be a part of the first group of girl’s wrestling she says it’s been a lot of fun for more than just wins and losses…
Brady Weischedel has been Yellow Hawk’s coach since girls the inception of girls high school wrestling and says the accomplishment for her to sign to wrestle at the next level is huge…
