(Gettysburg, SD) – Another double header last Friday in Gettysburg produced similar results for Sully Buttes. The girls would fall 52-33 while the boys secured a 58-32 victory over the Battlers.
The Sully Buttes girls would keep things within reach after one quarter of play, but a 21-9 output by the Lady Battlers in the second quarter would not allow the Chargers to recover. Missed shots would be the struggle with the Chargers with turnovers being down than previous games. Sully Buttes were led by Scottlyn Kinney with 18 points in the loss Jaydn Jaeger added eight on the night. Neveah Westphal scored four while Berkley Birney added a three pointer on the night. Gettysburg would come out with the win 52-33.
The Sully Buttes boys would have another great night from shooting adding eight threes in their 58-32 win over the Battlers Friday night. The defense would one of their best nights in a stretch of games on allowing 15 points in the first half and just 17 in the second. The Chargers were scoring from all parts of the court in the win going 12-15 from the free throw line and unofficially 19-48 from the field. Four Chargers finished in double digit scoring led by Wesley Wittler with 17 points. Gavin Colson and Easton Moore both would finished with 12, and Jett Yackley scored 10 in the win.
The Sully Buttes girls drop to 2-14 on the season with their next contest on Thursday in a double-header against Molbridge-Pollock. The Sully Buttes boys are now 11-4 on the year with another road trip Tuesday in Selby against the Wolverines.
