The Stanley County Buffalo basketball teams would split up for the day on Thursday as the Buffalo boys would win on the road 69-57 over Chamberlain, but the girls would lose at home 65-7 to Bennett County.
The Bennett County Warriors flexed its muscles to show why they are the defending Class B state champion in Fort Pierre on Thursday hold the Lady Buffs to single digits. Bennett County held the Lady Buffs to just a single point in the second half with the Warriors leading 34-6 at the break. Peyson O’Neill had 17 and Reagan O’Neill had 12 as the two finished in double figures. Addy Deal had six of the seven for Stanley County as they fall to 1-16 while Bennett County moves to 12-2.
The Buffalo boys were led in scoring by a monster night from Eddie Duffy scoring 33 total points while Paxton Deal with 12 points as the two were in double figures. Stanley County built a 17 point lead at the half 38-21 and stayed up in the scoring in the second half, but the Cubs tried to make a run as the Cubs cut the deficit to nine before the lead would be at 10 at the end of three. It pushed the Buffalo record to 14-2 on the season where the Buffs will be off until next Saturday when they face Gettysburg in a make up game at home. Chamberlain falls to 7-7.
The Lady Buffaloes will be at home on Tuesday to face the North Central Thunder in one of the final three games of the season. It’s the last home game of the season for Stanley County. Tip off of the varsity game is scheduled for around 7:45.
