The Pierre Governor wrestling team wrapped up its dual regular season on Thursday sweeping the Mitchell Kernels as the girls would win 64-15 and the boys winning 64-11.
The Gov girls would finish the dual regular season undefeated and had no issues getting past the Kernels. Pierre would win three of the four matches which were wrestled as Chevelle Brakke and Cameron Larson each would pick up a pinfall win and Abbigail Lewis would win by a major decision with Pierre also picking up eight forfeit wins. Mitchell would receive two forfeit wins.
In the final home dual of the regular season for the Govs, Pierre would handle Mitchell winning 10 of the 12 matches wrestled with two forfeits. Daniel Mason, Jyles Auble, Gable Uhrig, Alex Oedekoven, Alec Eilers and Kalo Steely all would pick up fall wins on the night while Rowdy Menning and Jordan Schafer each had a tech fall win and Walker West and Damen Horsley each grabbed decision victories for the Govs. Pierre will finish the dual season at 9-3 and currently ranked fifth in the dual standings, but will await the final results to see where they land in the dual state tournament in Pierre next weekend.
