The Stanley County Buffaloes would travel to Mission on Tuesday to face Todd County as the girls would drop a 69-32 game, but the boys would squeak past the Falcons with Eddie Duffy scoring with five seconds left to win 56-54.
In the girls game, Todd County would break things open in the second quarter outscoring the Buffs 22-8 taking a six point lead from the first to a 20 point halftime lead. Savanna Stands on Top would high the game high 16 points to lead the Falcons to just their fourth win of the season while Tashey LaRoy would have 13, Gabby Kenny had 11 and Bree White Hat had 10 for four players in double figures. Addy Deal had 15 of the 32 points for the Lady Buffs while Kynzi Hall had seven and JoRoyah Walker had five as Stanley County drops to 1-15 on the year.
The Buffalo boys would get a breath taking win as Todd County never went away in the game. The Falcons led 18-16 after the first and Stanley County built an eight point lead after three, but the Falcons always had answer and tied the game at 52 late in the fourth quarter. Jack Deal went 2-2 from the line to reclaim the lead for the Buffs at 54-52, but the Falcons scored to the tie game up. Duffy would drive, fake a pass inside the arc and turn back for a wide open shot with five seconds left to give the Buffs the lead 56-54 and on the ensuing play, Todd County had broken down the court, but the hustle of the boys would knock the ball free forcing a blind overhead shot to try and send the game to overtime as Stanley County survives to 13-2 on the season. Duffy, Teegyn Breitag and Paxton Deal all had 17 points for the Buffs in the win as Stanley County went 6-8 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter and 8-10 overall to help get the win.
Stanley County will split on Thursday as the Lady Buffs will host Bennett County with a 6:30 tip off while the boys will travel to Chamberlain for a 7:45 tip on the road.
