PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Fort Thompson man has been convicted of a federal drug charge. U-S Attorney Ron Parsons says U-S District Judge Eric Schulte has sentenced 35 year-old Dillon Big Eagle to 11-years and eight-months in federal custody. The sentence includes five years of supervised release after the prison term and an one-thousand dollar fine. Big Eagle was first indicted on a charge of Conspiracy to Distribute a Controlled Substance in December of 2024. He pleaded guilty in November of last year. Parson says Big Eagle’s involvement in a drug conspiracy started in January of 2023 and continued until the end of 2023. Big Eagle was involved with several others in the distribution of methamphetamine across central South Dakota, specifically including the Crow Creek and Lower Brule Sioux Indian Reservations. Big Eagle was directly involved in the distribution of over 500 grams of meth. Big Eagle was taken into custody following sentencing Monday by the U-S Marshals Service to begin serving his sentence.
