(Onida, SD) – Sully Buttes basketball returns to the home gym after a series of road games Tuesday to battle the Coyotes from Jones County. Girls tip-off at 6:30 with the boys to follow.
The Sully Buttes girls enter Tuesday night with a 2-11 record after a 49-21 defeat from Warner Saturday. They will be carrying a two game losing streak going up against Jones County. The Lady Coyotes are currently 5-4 on the season having their two game winning streak snapped from Bennet County on Saturday 70-30.
The Chargers at home this season currently have a one game winning streak after a victory over Stanley County. They will look to get their second in a row against Jones who currently on the season is 1-2 on the road. Sully Buttes and Jones County will be meeting for the 20th time since 2007. Sully Buttes is 16-3 in that span with both teams have split the last four meeting. The Lady Coyotes won the last contest 51-42. This decade is also split 3-3. The Chargers last win would be on January 30, 2024 winning 52-32.
The Sully Buttes boys are 9-4 on the season after a tough fought loss against Warner 66-60. The Chargers return to the home gym for the first time in five games. Jones County enters at 5-8 on the season after falling to Gregory 59-50 last Friday. The Coyotes are currently facing a five game losing streak.
The Chargers will look to show why playing in Onida is difficult having won their six games at home this season and are looking to continue their impressive winning streak. They are currently one of eight teams in Class B undefeated at home this season. Jones County is 2-3 on the road. The two teams have met 20 times prior with the Chargers having the series lead with an 18-2 record. Sully Buttes have won the last six meeting and are a perfect 6-0 this decade. The last time Jones County was victorious was February 4, 2019 winning 57-49. The Chargers won the last meeting 55-41.
