Sully Buttes took a three point lead after one quarter of basketball after they connected on three threes and had five scorers in the first quarter. Stanley County would have five of their own add points in the first. The 2-3 zone for the Buffaloes proves to have its challenges in the game for the Chargers, but it didn’t happen in the first.
The Buffaloes outpaced the Chargers in the second getting the early scoring which paid off with a 19-15 second scoring output. Eddie Duffy broke out in the quarter adding nine points. Wesley Wittler for the Chargers scored 10 of the 15 for the Sully Buttes in the second keeping it within one after the first half of play at 31-30.
The Chargers outscored the Buffaloes in the third and fourth quarter 39-32. Sully Buttes got a big bucket from Gavin Colson to give them a one score lead going into the fourth quarter. Stanley County was held to one made shot from the field in the third and lived at the line making 7-12 from the charity stripe. The roles flipped in the fourth quarter, but the Chargers would score 24 points shooting unofficially 67% from the field in the quarter and 11-15 at the line in which they didn’t see at all in the first half and only one made free throw in the third.
Sully Buttes made the shots and free throws when it counted and the lead grew too far for Stanley County to recover. The Chargers made the free throws to complete the 69-63 win and remain undefeated when scoring 60 plus points per game.
