The Oahe Capitals would pick up two varsity wins on Saturday as the Lady Caps opened the day with a 3-1 win over Rushmore and the boys would beat Brandon Valley 9-1.
Starting Saturday morning, the Lady Capitals would get a 3-1 win over the Thunder as the Capitals would get an opening period goal from Dakota McEntaffer as the Caps led 1-0 after the first. But the Thunder tied the game up 12 seconds into the second period as Avery Eggers cashed in a turnover to make it a 1-1 game until Mallory Lehrkamp would come down the right wing and beat Bristol Simmons to make it 2-1 before Ava Lavinger scored on the breakaway to make it 3-1 after two. Oahe held the Thunder to just five shots on goal in the third period to secure their tenth win of the season. Kylee Fromm made 16 saves on 17 shots for the win.
In the boys game, the Capitals had 16 of their 18 skaters score at least a point as nine different guys scored in the 9-1 win. Ian Schweitzer and Logan Brown made it 2-0 midway through the first period before Justin Pederson would score the only goal of the game on a misplayed puck from goalie Jace Hand who stopped the other 20 shots on goal in the win. Dylan Dodson deflected a shot from Cooper Beastrom into the net as time expired as the Caps took a 3-1 lead after one. Tryton Parmely and Landry Van Roekel scored in second period before Lyle Boni, Logan Anderson, Brecken Fuhrman and Jim Neddo all scored in the third. Kaden Walti picked up the assist on Neddo’s goal for his first career varsity point. Bridger Babcock had three assists as he’s picked up five this weekend alone. Oahe improves to 9-5 on the season and 2-0 on the weekend.
