(Onida, SD) – The Chargers and Lady Buffaloes battle Thursday night in Onida where both teams were seeking wisdom that weren’t coming at all or not as often. Sully Buttes were seeing their second win of the season while Stanley County was looking for their first win in 12 games. The Chargers would come out with the win 48-32.
The Chargers controlled the entire game after a quick 2-0 lead from Stanley County; Sully Buttes settled into the game and control the pace of play which was a benefit for the Chargers. Sully Buttes took a 16-6 lead after one quarter of play with points Ellie Nelson and Jaydn Jaeger who lead the scoring with 24 points on the night.
It was Addy Deal for the Lady Buffaloes who would keep them in it for as long as possible scoring 14 points in the loss. Jorayh Walker saw her scoring late adding 10 points of her own and eight in the fourth quarter. The Chargers had the big lead at half and never let Stanley County get to within reach with the closest after the first half’s 29-13 lead would be nine points. The Chargers largest lead would end up being 17.
Both teams scored 19 points in the second half for Sully Buttes to hold onto the lead and eventually the win. The Chargers shot 33% from the field and 48% from the charity stripe. They would win the turnover margin with 13 while Stanley County finished with 17. The Lady Buffaloes shot 21% from the field and 64% from the free throw line.
Sully Buttes scoring Jaydn Jaeger led all scoring with 24 points in the game Ellie Nelson scored 13 off the bench. Stanley County had two in double digit scoring with Addy Deal with 14 and Jorayh Walker with 10.
Sully Buttes improve to 2-10 on the season and will return to the court on Thursday against Hitchcock-Tulare on the road. Stanley County drops to 0-12 on the season. They are back in action on Tuesday against Cheyenne Eagle Butte in a one home game stance at 4:30 p.m.
