The Brookings Rangers defense made life difficult for the Oahe Capitals on Saturday, swarming the Caps and limiting the opportunities in the offensive end as the Rangers would defeat the Caps 7-0 in Brookings.
Oahe would get five shots on goal on the power play in the first period but finished the period with just six shots on goal overall. The Caps had just 11 game as the Rangers would pepper a total of 39. The Rangers scored four first period goals including one on the power play and add on with another two in the second to start run time. Cade Zweber and Mason Diers each had two goals for the Rangers who won both games over the weekend to improve to 8-4 with the Caps falling to 7-5 on the year. Jace Hand stopped 23 shots on 29 chances through two periods before Noah Lueking had nine saves on 10 shots in the third.
Oahe will host a three game weekend this weekend starting with the Huron All Stars in town Friday night at 8:00 with a 6:15 puck drop on Saturday against Brandon Valley and then finishing the weekend at 3:45 on Sunday against Sioux Falls West. All three games will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
