The Stanley County Buffaloes got into a dogfight with the White River Tigers in the Jones County Invitational Semifinal on Friday, but the Buffs would pull off a 42-41 win.
The two teams were hardly separated the entire game as the Buffs trailed at the end of the first half, but would grab the lead and get a big free throw from Brendon Bothwell to go up by four points with 10 seconds left in the fourth. A three at the buzzer hit for White River, but Stanley County was happy to see the shot go up being wide open knowing it wasn’t going to keep them from the championship game. Eddie Duffy tied the game high with 16 points with White River’s Bryson One Star. Paxton Deal would have 13 with 11 coming in the first half. Stanley County improves to 4-1 on the season and will be looking to repeat as the Jones County Invitational champions on Saturday.
Stanley County will face Lyman who beat Jones County 70-27 in the other semifinal. The Championship game is set for 8:00 Saturday night in Murdo.
