PIERRE, (KCCR) — The South Dakota Department of Transportation has released the winners of the 2025-2026 “Name the Plow” Contest. Buzz Ice Clear, a play on fictional cartoon movie character “Buzz Lightyear” from the Toy Story movies won for the Pierre Area. Buzz Ice Clear was submitted by Jordana Sayler of Pierre. “Cutting Edge Express”, submitted by the Hand County Auditor’s Office was selected by the Huron area of the D-O-T. The Winner area selected the name “Scoopy Scoopy Doo” a play off of cartoon crime-fighting dog Scooby Doo, which was submitted by the Jones County preschool class. Other winning plow names include “Iceorilla”; “Rhinestone Plowboy”; “Sleddy Roosevelt“ and “Mount Slush NO More”. Including the Jones County entry, four of the winning names were from elementary schools across the state. This is the sixth year of the plow naming program which is an effort to create awareness around winter driving and driving around plows. All of the previous named plows are still in active service within the Department of Transportation fleet.
