(Onida, SD) – Sully Buttes Basketball is in action Thursday night in a double header at home against Miller. Sully Buttes will look to change the results from last season after being swept by Miller. Tip-off is set for around 6:30 p.m. for the girls for the boys to follow. Country 95.3 F.M. will have coverage.
This is the lone game for the girls this week and will look to snap a three game losing streak of three games sitting with a 1-8 record. The Chargers were in a tight contest against Redfield but fell short 36-30. Sully Buttes have played a tough schedule the start the season featuring teams like Highmore-Harrold, Ipswich, Lyman, Phillip, and Herreid/Selby Area who currently sit in the top 36 in the Class B standing. Their opponent the Miller Rustlers currently sit 17 in Class A. The Lady Rustlers enter Thursday with a 8-2 record after a win against Redfield 41-29.
Since 2007, the Chargers have won 12 games while losing seven. This decade has been the decade for Miller going 5-1 in the last six meetings. The last meeting was January 16, 2025 where The Rustlers was victorious 50-28. The Chargers last win was January 13, 2022 winning 41-23.
The Sully Buttes boys enter Thursday with a 6-1 record with their last contest being a win for the Chargers 74-52. Sully Buttes bounced back from their first loss of the season in back way. Four Chargers having a double digit scoring night in the win. The Miller Rustlers enter Thursday at 3-5 snapping a two game losing streak against Redfield 76-52. The Rustlers early season has been a season of streaks. They started the season with three straight losses. They would follow that up with two wins before dropping their last two.
For Sully Buttes, they have had the series lead since 2006 going 13-7 against the Rustlers. They have split the last four games with Miller having won the last meeting 60-52. Sully Buttes last win was on January 11, 2024 winning 52-39.
