The Pierre Governor gymnastics team competed for the first time in 2026 and in almost a near month. The Govs would place fifth at the Brookings Invite on Saturday.
The Governors scored a 136.775 while the Harrisburg Tigers would get a 152 to win the team score followed by Mitchell, Watertown and Brookings. Jaelynn Muldoon had the best score of any Governor on the day as she scored a 9.475 on the floor routine good for tenth place. Myclane Sheppick scored a 9.075 to place ninth in the beam category, the highest Governor place finisher on the day. Madlyn Merrill led the Govs in the bars with an 8.375 while Rebecca Spitzer had an 8.5 to lead the Govs in the vault. Merrill would place seventh in the All-Around with a 34.725 while Spitzer would be ninth in the 33.725. Harrisburg, who won the team score, had the top two in the All-Around led by Katelyn Maeschen who won every routine on the day.
