The Oahe Capitals would fall to the Yankton Bucks 5-2 on Saturday night at home before the Sunday game was postponed due ice issues at the Expo Center.
Oahe would open up the game with a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period as Logan Brown was stuff in a rebound shot from Ian Schweitzer while Dylan Dodson would score on the power play beating Yankton goalie Luke Moeller on his backhand. However, the Bucks fought back to tie the game at 2-2 with Isaac Dimmer and Jack Pederson tying the game. In the third period, Yankton would score two power play goals with Rylan Murphy getting the go-ahead and eventual game winning goal while Pederson would score his second of the game and get the empty net goal to seal the win and pick up a hat trick. Oahe could only get 11 shots on the goal in the loss as Moeller made nine saves while Yankton would pepper 35 shots against Jace Hand who made 31 saves in net. Yankton moves to 9-2 on the season and the Caps fall to 7-4.
Sunday’s game would be postponed due to ice issues which did not allow the Bantam A game to finish and the JV game would not be played either. No make up date is determined as of yet. The Caps next action will be Saturday night against the Brookings Rangers on the road. The girls will play at Brookings Friday at 6:00 and then at 1:00 on Saturday in Watertown before a 6:00 puck drop for the boys in Brookings. All three games will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
