The Stanley County Lady Buffaloes had a chance to win the game on Thursday against McLaughlin in the final seconds, but the shot wouldn’t fall in a 47-46 loss. The Buffalo boys would roll from the start to beat the Mustangs 63-27 in Fort Pierre.
In the girls game, all four quarters would be close as Stanley County had a 24-20 lead at the end of the first half but trailed by six after three. McLaughlin would lead by two in the fourth late, Addy Deal would go 1-2 from the free throw line to pull within 47-46 and after missed free throws by the Mustangs, Kynzi Hall had a mid range jumper to win at the buzzer and would just miss as the Lady Buffs fall to 0-8. Deal would finish with a game high 22 points for Stanley County while JoRayah Walker had 10 and Hall finished with nine. McLaughlin was led by Rylee Free with 18.
In the boys game, the Buffs took a 12-0 lead before McLaughlin even scored and had a 22-7 lead after one and 36-11 at the half. It didn’t take long for the running clock to start in the third quarter as the Buffs led by 35 after three. Teegyn Breitag had 11 points with seven coming in the first quarter. The Buffs were led by Eddie Duffy who had seven threes in the game and finished with a game high 28 points to keep the Buffs undefeated on the season at now 6-0.
The Lady Buffs will host Gettysburg in a stand alone game on Tuesday before hosting Lyman on Thursday while the boys will get ready for the 58th annual Jones County Invitational starting next Thursday and will face Philip at 1:00 in Murdo in the first game of the tournament.
