The Oahe Capitals will finally be at home for a full weekend for the first time all year as they host the Yankton Bucks in two massive games in early January.
Yankton is coming in at 8-2 with two big wins over Sioux Falls West last weekend 4-1 and 4-2 before beating Sioux Center on Sunday 12-1 as the Bucks have won five straight and the only losses have come against Rushmore. Yankton made the state tournament for the first time ever last season and has no plans of falling back out of the state tournament. Luke Moeller has a 1.85 goals against average having played every game so far with one shutout. Yankton has not allowed more than two goals in each of their eight wins and has only allowed a goal or less in six of those wins. Tucker Renken leads the team with 15 goals while Kylen O’Connor and Brayden Byrkeland has 12 and 11 goals respectively. The Capitals are still lead in scoring by Dylan Dodson with now 12 goals while Logan Brown has six and Brecken Furhman with five.
Puck drop is at 6:15 on Saturday and 1:15 on Sunday at the Expo Center in Fort Pierre with both games on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
