Both winning teams would remain undefeated on Tuesday night between the Highmore-Harrold Pirates and the Stanley County Buffaloes as the Pirate girls would win 56-19 and the Buffalo boys would win 60-27.
In the girls contest, Stanley County would trail 11-6, but could not score in the second quarter with the Pirates extending its five point lead to 29-6 at the end of the first half. Henley McDonnel and Autumn Fallis each would score 14 points to lead the way for Highmore-Harrold who improve to 7-0 while the Lady Buffaloes fall to 0-7. Whitney Baloun had 12 for the Pirates. Stanley County was led by Addy Deal and Kynzi Hall each having five.
In the boys contest, Stanley County and Highmore-Harrold were tied 11-11 after the first quarter as the Buffs couldn’t find their shot. But the Eddie Duffy show would take over with 14 second quarter points on his way to a game high 25 points as the Buffs went up 35-16 at the end of the half and had a double digit lead before the Pirates scored in the second quarter. Paxton Deal added in 17 for the Buffs as they are now 5-0 to start the season while Highmore-Harrold falls to 0-5.
The Buffaloes will return home and face the McLaughlin Mustangs in a boys and girls doubleheader on Thursday. The girls will tip off at 6:30 with the boys game to follow.
