The Pierre Governor boys basketball team will be at home tonight hosting the Lincoln Patriots in just the third home game of the season and the first time the Govs are playing during the week.
Pierre is 2-3 on the season after a loss to the Bismarck Demons on Saturday on the road where Bismarck would shoot lights out against the Govs in a 92-56 win. Pierre struggled to hit a shot from the outside going 0-8, but as well as Bismarck shot, the Govs still shot nearly 45% from the field on the night and went 14-20 from the free throw line. Cooper Terwilliger, Corde Austin and Logan Witte all hit double figures in the loss. The Lincoln Patriots are coming in, also undefeated at 5-0. The Patriots beat Washington by seven to open the season, but since then have won by double digits in each of the other four games including a 73-50 win over Jefferson last time out. Over the last two seasons the Patriots have only lost to Mitchell, once in the regular season and the other in the state semifinals. It will be another challenge for the Governor defense with Lincoln averaging 67.2 points per game, the most in Class AA.
Coverage tonight begins at 6:30 with tip off at 7:00 on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler and Blake Dean on the call.
