PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Pierre City Commission is meeting tonight at the Pierre Municipal Building. This first meeting of 2026 brings a six-item agenda before the Commission. Only three items make up the consent calendar; the typical approval of claims and meeting minutes and an hourly wage adjustment for an employee in the Electric Department. As for the main agenda, Commissioners will consider a request to allow alcohol in the South Dakota Discovery Center for Brookings/S-D-S-U Day at the State Capitol and a request to bid for aggregate base course for 2026 road construction projects. The Commission will consider approval of a change order by Morris for the Runway 13-31 project at Pierre Regional Airport and will consider the annual designation of official newspaper and depositories. The Commission will also consider approval of the 2026 combined election agreement with the Pierre School District and Hughes County and officially set an election date of June 2nd. Commissioners will present any dialogue before closing out the meeting. The Pierre City Commission meets tonight at 5:30 pm. The meeting is open to the community.
