The Bismarck Demons boys and girls basketball teams would get two wins on Saturday as the Pierre Governors would drop the Governor’s Cup with the boys falling 92-56 on the road and the girls 57-44 at home.
In the girls game, Pierre would trail by just six at the break 31-25, but the third quarter would get the separation needed for the Demons outscoring the Govs 16-9 on the way to a 13 point win. Molly Olson would be the lone Gov in double figures with 14 points as all but one player into the game for Pierre would score at least a point. Marena Buschbom had seven points but the Govs were outscored in the paint 28-22 in the contest. Bismarck’s Jordyn Rood had a game high 20 points while Grace Neumann had 16 and Izzy Dahl had 13 as the Demons improve to 4-2 winning both games on the weekend.
The Demon boys are still unbeaten with the 36 point win as the high flying Bismarck team improves to 6-0 on the season. Bismarck was nearly 70% from inside the arc and 44% from long range. Bismarck could not miss scoring 53 in the first half. Cooper Terwilliger would lead the Govs with 16 points going 4-4 from the floor and 8-9 from the free throw line. Corde Austin chipped in 14 and Logan Witte had 12 for the Govs. Bismarck was led by both Artie Carlow and Te’Darrion Slack each having 19 points while Weston Scott had 15 and Kenyatta White had 11.
Both Governor teams are now 2-3 on the season and will both be home during the week. The Governor boys will host Lincoln on Tuesday and the girls will host Harrisburg on Thursday. Both games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
