FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — The South Dakota Transportation Commission has granted 463-thousand dollars to the City of Fort Pierre as part of an Agri-Business Grant. Over four-million dollars was awarded by the Transportation Commission last week for various community access and agri-business grants. Fort Pierre’s grant money will go toward improving Buffalo Road, which serves the Sioux Nation grain drying facility. The Fort Pierre City Council approved seeking the grant in October with help from the Central South Dakota Enhancement District….
David Reiss with the Enhancement District says a short section of Buffalo Road is not covered by the grant and encouraged Fort Pierre to finish the remainder of the road. The grants provide funding for 80-percent of construction costs up to a maximum of 600-thousand dollars.
