The Oahe Capitals are on a four game winning streak after beating Huron 5-2 on Friday on the road and then 4-2 at home against the Watertown Lakers this weekend.
Friday night the Caps were outshot in the first period but would still lead 1-0 after Logan Anderson opened the scoring midway through the first. Landry Van Roekel made it 2-0 but the All Stars would get a goal back to pull within 2-1 after two. However, Dylan Dodson would score twice, once on the power play in the third period to take a 4-1 advantage and Brecken Furhman added the final goal as Noah Lueking would get his second win of the season stopping 18 of 20 Huron shots for the win.
Lyle Boni’s big day would help the Caps break a scoreless tie late in the second period as he would score a powerplay goal before adding a second to give the Caps a 2-0 lead. Cooper Beastrom would also add a goal to give the Caps a 3-0 lead at the end of two periods and while Watertown tried to mount a comeback, it was too little too late as the Lakers scored two goals in the final four and a half minutes. Jace Hand grabbed his second win stopping 16 of 18 shots as the Caps outshot the Lakers in all three periods.
Oahe improves its record to 6-2 and will face the defending state champion Rushmore Thunder on Saturday on the road. Puck drop is at 7:30 Central Time from Rapid City.
