The Oahe Capitals will have a busy weekend with each varsity team playing two games this weekend. The boys will travel to Huron tonight and host Watertown Saturday while the girls will host both Watertown and Mitchell.
The Lady Caps are coming in at 4-2 on the season with a weekend split against Sioux Center and Sioux Falls. Oahe faces Watertown first on Saturday as the Lakers are coming in having won four straight with its latest win over Mitchell on Friday, December 5. The Lakers will be in Brookings tonight to face the Rangers before coming to the Expo on Saturday. Gracelyn Webb and Emma Schleusner each have four goals. The Caps are led in scoring by Dakota McEntaffer, Brenna Ullman and Kierstan Miller all having three goals. Sunday, the Caps take on Mitchell for the second time this year. Mitchell is 1-5 and will face Sioux Center tonight at home before traveling to Fort Pierre on Sunday. The Marlins did score four against the Flyers last Sunday in a 9-4 loss, one more goal allowed by Sioux Falls than the other five games combined.
The Capital boys team will be on the road to start the weekend traveling to Huron tonight. The Caps are now 4-2 with a sweep of Sioux Center last weekend with a 4-2 and 10-2 win. Brecken Furhman had his first career hat trick and Logan Brown scored three goals in his first two varsity games. Heading into the weekend, the Caps have the third most wins on the season and take on the 2-4-1 All Stars. Huron beat Brandon Valley 7-4 in its latest game and also has a win and tie with Mitchell. Then on Saturday, the Caps face the Lakers having its first home game of the season. Watertown is coming in at 2-2 after beating Huron and Sioux Center but have lost to both Sioux Falls teams. It’s the only game of the weekend for Watertown with the two teams not playing until the final weekend of the regular season.
Coverage on Saturday begins around 2:00 with puck drop at 2:15 followed by an 8:00 puck drop Saturday night for the boys game. Then on Sunday, coverage begins around 1:00 with a 1:15 puck drop against Mitchell. All three games will be on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
