The Oahe Capital boys hockey team would get a sweep of the Sioux Center Storm on Saturday and Sunday on the road with the Caps winning 4-2 on Saturday and 10-2 on Sunday.
On Saturday, it was a penalty filled game with the Storm taking a total of eight different penalties and the Caps scoring two special teams goals. Max Schmitz would open the scoring with a short handed goal in the first before Ian Schweitzer would make it 2-0. Sioux Center would get one back to make it 2-1, but Tryton Parmely would answer it just 18 seconds later. Logan Brown, in his first varsity game, would score his first varsity goal on the power play to make it 4-1. Noah Eaton would get the win in net stopping 20 of 22 shots. The Caps peppered 62 shots on goal in the win.
On Sunday, Brecken Furhman would get his first hat trick of the season while Dylan Dodson and Logan Brown each had two goals as the Caps led 4-0 after the first and 8-0 after the second. Ian Schweitzer, Owen O’Daniel and Jim Neddo all scored in the win as Ayden Behm had four assists in the game. Rylan Afdahl, in his first varsity start would stop 14 of 16 shots to get the win as all four goalies have picked up wins for the Capitals as they move to 4-2 on the season. Sioux Center drops to 0-7.
The Caps will travel to Huron on Friday before going home to have its home opener on Saturday against Watertown. Saturday’s game will be on Capital city Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports.
