ONIDA, (KCCR) — An Onida ranch family with a background in rodeo production has been awarded by the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association, known as the PRCA. Sutton Rodeo’s production of Rodeo Rapid City won the Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year honor during a presentation December 3rd. Rodeo Rapid City and Sutton Rodeo has won the award seven times and has been nominated 25 time. The award for Medium Outdoor Rodeo of the Year is also staying in South Dakota. The Black Hills Roundup in Belle Fouche won Medium Outdoor Rodeo for the seventh time as well. The Days of ’76 Rodeo in Deadwood was nominated in the Large Outdoor Rodeo of the Year category. This was the 6th time that event had been nominated. Sutton Rodeo has won for Rodeo Rapid City in 2002, 2003, 2020, 2021, 2023 and 2024. Rodeo Rapid City has been nominated for the PRCA’s Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year 24 time. The 2026 Rodeo Rapid City will be held January 30th to February 7th next year at The Monument in Rapid City.
