The Stanley County Lady Buffaloes would fall in the opening game of the season at home on Tuesday with the Chamberlain Cubs getting the win 50-38 in Fort Pierre.
It was a typical first game with things that will be cleaned up just by playing more games. The two teams were evenly matched in the first quarter with Chamberlain holding a 16-13 lead after one and then held the Lady Buffs to just nine points in the second to take a 28-19 lead at halftime. Addy Deal would help lead Stanley County in the first half scoring eight of 13 points in the first half while Kynzi Hall would get eight of her 13 points in the second half as both were double figure scorers and the team high on the night. Chamberlain was balanced in scoring with three starters in double figures led by Natalie Nelson with a game high 15 points while Kali Randall had 11 and Talayna McBride-Wingert had 10.
Stanley County will get just one day rest before traveling to Miller on Thursday to face the Rustlers. It will be Miller’s opening game of the season and it will be a doubleheader. Tip off of the girls game will be at 6:30 with the boys game to follow at the Armory in Miller.
