PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Pierre man was arrested Monday afternoon on multiple charges resulting from a traffic stop for a speeding violation. Pierre Police Captain Kyle Cummings says an officer conducted a traffic stop around 1:10 pm on a vehicle driven by 23 year-old Dominick Zephier. The officer clocked Zephier traveling 58 miles an hour on Garfield Avenue where the posted speed limit is 35. The investigating officer noticed signs Zephier may be under the influence of alcohol and conducted a field sobriety test and D-U-I investigation. Zephier failed the test and was arrested for Speeding over 21 to 25 Miles an Hour Over; Driving While Suspended; Expired License Plates and a Second Offense Driving Under The Influence charge. Zephier was transported to the Hughes County Jail. Pierre police made two other D-U-I arrests Monday into Tuesday morning. One was a first offense D-U-I while the other was for a fourth offense or more Driving Under the Influence charge.
