The South Dakota State volleyball team would earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Volleyball Championship and will be a seven seed when the tournament kicks off today with the Jacks playing Friday.
SDSU is matched up with unseeded Arizona for the opening round and will take on the Wildcats at 6:30 Central Time on Friday at Maples Pavilion in Stanford, California. The winner of that match will play the winner of the two seed Stanford vs. Utah Valley in the second round on Saturday at 8 p.m. Central Time.
Arizona enters the tournament with a 16-12 overall record and went 10-8 in Big 12 action. Host Stanford is 27-4 overall and went 18-2 in the ACC to earn the conference’s automatic bid. Utah Valley went 16-10 and 10-2 in the WAC also earning an automatic bid by winning the WAC conference tournament.
The Jacks, winners of the Summit League regular season title with a 16-0 record, earned an at-large bid for the second consecutive season. This is the third time in the history of the Summit League that two teams will represent the conference in the NCAA Tournament. St. Thomas beat the Jacks in the Summit League Championship to earn the automatic bid from the conference.
The Jackrabbits are set to make their third NCAA Tournament in the Division I era with the other two being in 2007 and 2024.
First serve is at 6:30 Central Time on Friday in Stanford.
