Pierre senior, Gwen Richter would sign her National Letter of Intent on Wednesday at the Pierre library to continue her Cross Country and Track and Field career at Northern State University.
Richter has competed at the varsity level since she was a freshman and has competed in the varsity cross country state championships throughout her high school career running under 19 minutes in her senior year. She also has qualified for four separate events at the track and field state championships which includes the 4×800 relay for the last two years. Last spring Richter ran in the sprint medley relay race, the 4×800, the 4×400, the 1600 meter run, the 800 meters and also ran in the 400 meters. She improved all of her times in every event she participated in from the previous year. She joins a Northern State track and field team which finished in seventh place in the NSIC. Richter says this has been building to be able to run in college since her sixth grade year…
Heading into her senior year for Track and Field, Richter says she would love to see the team place again this spring…
Richter plans to study elementary education at Northern State.
