MILLER, (KCCR) — The name of a Miller man killed in a two vehicle crash in the City of Miller has been released by the South Dakota Highway Patrol. The Patrol as identified the man as 82 year-old Leland James Cain of Miller. The crash happened November 25th just after 11:30 in the morning. Cain was driving a 2022 Ford Edge west on 7th Street in Miller at the time. At the time of the crash, a 2007 Peterbilt semi-truck was traveling south on North Broadway Avenue in Miller, which also carries South Dakota Highway 45 and U-S Highway 14 through the Hand County seat. Cain failed to stop at the stop sign on 7th Street and drove into the path of the semi-truck. Cain suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The semi-truck driver, 48 year-old Joshua Dean Steffenson of Hetland, was not injured in the crash. Seat belt use by Steffenson and Cain remains under investigation by the South Dakota Highway Patrol.
